The Story:

In our family of six, I was deeply inspired by my mother — a devoted homemaker and remarkably talented seamstress. She lovingly crafted all of our clothing and extended her talents to sewing for friends and family as well.

Although my father worked tirelessly to provide for our family, purchasing original Barbie dolls for four daughters was not financially feasible.

Nevertheless, our home was always brimming with creativity, joy, and an abundance of dolls and toys.

In 2019, during the quiet of the COVID-19 lockdown, I stumbled upon a beautiful black-haired Barbie online. I purchased her and named her Sonaliya. Her long dark hair mirrored my own, stirring a sweet echo of childhood wonder I hadn’t felt in years.

This discovery reignited a passion within me. Within weeks, I found myself searching for outfits on Facebook Marketplace. I found a talented seller and asked her to recreate my traditional Indian outfit in Barbie form. The result—a meticulously crafted miniature; that even incorporated my original tassel on the skirt—was truly amazing! Since then, both my collection and passion have continued to grow. Over the years, I’ve collected a total of 7 original Barbie dolls.

The release of the Diwali Barbie further inspired me to create bespoke, custom-made doll outfits that celebrate culture, memories, and milestones.

Why settle for a mass-produced outfit when you can have a personalized Indian-style design — a mini version of your very own traditional outfit?

This vision expanded to encompass the creation of any customized outfit.

While I do not sew myself, and I have not developed an affinity for the craft, I designed every garment that my mother lovingly made for me, including my modeling graduation gowns and prom dress.

My creativity is fueled by vision and a deep passion for fashion and design, more than by the act of sewing itself.
